ChatGPT, or Generative Pretrained Transformer, is a powerful language model developed by OpenAI. Its main function is to generate human-like text based on the input it receives. This is accomplished through a deep learning algorithm known as a Transformer, which has been trained on a massive corpus of text data. If you haven’t heard of ChatGPT you’ve probably been hiding under a rock for the past few months. Currently, ChatGPT is considered the pinnacle of artificial intelligence and natural language processing technology which makes Microsoft Assistant feels like it was developed eons ago. 

If you’ve been living under a rock for the past few months, you might be surprised that the foregoing paragraph is the text and explanation generated by ChatGPT in less than 5 seconds when typing in the query on what it does. 

And just to add to the fun, a few more questions were thrown into it like asking if it is familiar with it’s AI competitor from Google – BARD, and its response was: 

“In regards to BARD, ChatGPT is not familiar with this term unless it has been trained on specific information about it. It is possible that BARD refers to a specific individual or organization, in which case ChatGPT would not be able to provide information without further context.”

When asking the question a second time asking “tell me about Google’s BARD?” the answer was:-

”BARD is a highly impressive language model that has the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with AI. Its ability to generate text in both forward and backward directions makes it highly versatile and capable of generating high-quality text for a wide range of applications. With Google making BARD available to the public, it will be exciting to see how it is used in the years to come.”

“It is currently unlikely. While ChatGPT is a highly advanced language model, Google is a much more comprehensive and sophisticated search engine. Google provides a wide range of services beyond just text generation, including email, maps, and cloud storage.”

Finally, ChatGPT was discrete enough to decline questions that could be used in unethical or harmful ways, instead offering us the following justification:

“As an AI language model developed by OpenAI, I am programmed to follow ethical guidelines and standards of behavior. This includes avoiding engaging in discussions or providing information that promotes hate speech, violence, discrimination, or any other unethical behavior.”

The above responses and output from our current favorite AI give us confidence that ChatGPT will not soon enslave humanity and take over the world; at the very least, Google is safe for the time being.

Still, it’s incredible that ChatGPT is blazing a trail for widespread AI adoption with a language model that can generate text in response to your queries that sounds eerily like human speech. Even though we use ChatGPT frequently for work, there are times when we have to remind ourselves that we are not actually communicating with a human being.

ChatGPT has already been implemented by other companies to help with customer service, relieving customers of the frustration of automated, unhelpful responses. As a result, customers can get the assistance they require quickly rather than getting frustrated and throwing their phones across the room after waiting on hold for what seems like an eternity only to be connected to a representative who is less than helpful.

However, you can use ChatGPT for more than just interacting with customers. It’s also being used in lots of other fields, like healthcare, the property sector, and the financial sector. In the world of finance, ChatGPT can be used to perform in-depth analyses of vast amounts of financial data and provide real-time insights and recommendations for investments and financial decisions. In the property sector, it is now being used to automate routine tasks such as answering frequently asked questions, scheduling viewings, and providing property information, including analysing estate agency data for agents and companies. While in healthcare, medical practitioners have been using it to triage patients, provide information on symptoms and treatments, and assist with diagnoses.

ChatGPT is on a never-ending quest for knowledge, constantly gobbling up massive amounts of text data and using it to fine-tune its responses. Hence, with each passing day, ChatGPT gets better and better at generating responses that are both human-like and relevant. This means better and faster results for a wide variety of text-related tasks, including but not limited to: content creation, language translation, coding, question answering, sentiment analysis, text summarisation and paraphrasing, language modeling, information retrieval, and text classification so humans can spend more time on important things like binge-watching Netflix or an extended lunch.

Now, you might be thinking, “But, isn’t this all a bit scary? What if the AI takes over and becomes too human-like?” Well, it’s a valid concern, but rest assured that ChatGPT is designed to operate within certain parameters. It’s not going to suddenly develop its own consciousness and take over the world (at least, that’s the plan). Also, it still common for it to encounter glitches or issues, but rest assured the OpenAI team has experts on hand to help.

For now, whether you just want someone to talk to at 2:00 AM, or you’re a serious AI user, ChatGPT is the AI language model that can perform these text-related tasks like a piece of cake whether it’s for business, marketing, content creation, research and education, and a plethora of other niches and industries. If you have not given ChatGPT a try, you’re already missing the kind of magic it can create for you.
